ABOUT

Kevin Warren is Co-founder and Chief Financial Officer at Utopus Insights, responsible for managing the company’s financial performance, long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. In this role, Warren provides insights and recommendations to the Executive Leadership, for both the short- and long-term growth plans of the company.

Warren previously served as Chief Operating Officer, leading both customer support and day-to-day global operations.

Prior to co-founding Utopus Insights, Warren was a Distinguished Research Staff Member of the Smarter Energy Research Institute at IBM Research, where he led the Clean Energy Strategy efforts worldwide for IBM Research. As a Senior Manager, he led a team focused on energy and weather.

Warren joined IBM Research in 1992 after obtaining a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He remained at Research until 2005, finally leading the VLSI Design Team, at the time the largest second line organization in IBM Research.

In 2005, he became a Director in IBM's Semiconductor Research and Development Center. In this role he transformed the process for defining new technologies into a collaborative effort between design and technology that is now standard practice and has been used for three technology generations. He was responsible for the all phases of this process, from concept to on-time product delivery to IBM and to its customers and partners. In addition, he served as Management Committee Member for two IBM multi-party partnerships with multi-million annual revenue. He had responsibility for an annual expense budget for the division in excess of $700M. He managed over 200 technical team members, including partner employees. He has also managed remote technical teams in France, Korea, and Israel.

He returned to Research in 2014 and took on a leadership position in Smarter Energy to apply his experience and skills to make a positive difference to our common future.
