Automation & Digitalization In Solar O&M

Our Solar PV energy analytics team is headed to Intersolar North America, January 13-15, 2022!
Global cumulative solar PV installations are expected to grow to 1,243 GWdc by 2024. While demand has been strong, power purchase prices across the globe have been dropping considerably in recent years. Expiring incentives and other dynamics are putting pressure on the entire value chain, including the operations and maintenance (O&M) segment. Solar O&M is a labor-intensive industry, in which between 80% to 90% of OPEX is labor cost. As such, asset owners are increasingly looking to automation as part of an O&M cost reduction strategy for their continuous expanding fleet, and to efficiently manage the complexity of large solar power plants spread across 100s of acres of land.
Feng Zhang, Product Director, will be presenting on the topic "Automation and Digitalization in Solar O&M," and in this session, we will discuss:
- Challenges and opportunities in adoption of digital technology for solar plant operations
- Limitations to conventional asset management in detecting and identifying issues
- How automation can optimize the entire O&M value chain
- Case study review: comprehensive loss breakdown analysis for a solar farm with battery storage
- Tips for identifying and contracting with technology vendors
- Pathways to reduce O&M costs through automation and predictive maintenance
